ARCHITECTURE FOR DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES: INSIDE NBA ARCHITECT'S DIVERSE PROJECT PORTFOLIO
Every building exists for a purpose.
A school must create an environment that supports education. A mosque needs to accommodate worship and community activities. A residential development must respond to everyday living, while commercial architecture must balance functionality with operational requirements. This diversity can be seen throughout NBA Architect's project portfolio, which covers different building types and communities. Educational developments represented within the firm's portfolio include projects such as Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Kenangan, Segamat and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang.
Religious and community architecture also forms part of the firm's project involvement. Projects include Masjid Bandar Dato Onn, Masjid KOMTAR JBCC, mosque and surau developments, as well as a proposed Mosque and Community Centre at Jalan Dhoby, Johor Bahru. Residential projects demonstrate another scale of architectural planning. The portfolio includes developments ranging from bungalows and individual residences to larger housing schemes such as Kompleks Perumahan Rumah Idaman Rakyat Senai and Program Perumahan Rakyat Taman Pelangi Indah.
🏗️ “Different communities require different architectural responses — but every successful project begins by understanding people, purpose and place.”
The firm's project involvement also extends to public and commercial architecture, including a Multipurpose Hall in Pasir Gudang, a proposed Police Station at Taman Johor Jaya, and a proposed KFC Drive-Thru in Batu Pahat. Beyond conventional building types, architectural proposals can also explore new ways of serving specialised communities. One example is ARCHX Hub, proposed as an inclusive e-sport centre for physically disabled people. Another is Denai Nelayan , a fishermen's and heritage community centre that explores the relationship between architecture, community and local identity.
The variety within NBA Architect's portfolio reflects the adaptability required in architectural practice. Whether designing for education , worship , housing , commerce or community use , every project carries different requirements and challenges. Ultimately, architecture is not defined by a single style or building type. Its value comes from how effectively it responds to people, purpose and place.
